Making marmalade, planting asparagus and gooseberries

Last week I enjoyed some winter kitchen and garden activities. Making
marmalade is an annual winter ritual in our house - the time to do it
is when the delicious bitter Seville oranges are in the shops. I use
a recipe that my parents use and it produces delicious bitter sweet
marmalade.

Also managed to get out in the garden when it wasn't frosty and
planted asparagus, gooseberries, raspberries, rhubarb and jerusalem
artichokes. All long term crops that will hopefully pay dividends in
the years to come!
